The Greening Group continues the project to make our area more attractive, planting eight more cherry trees and bringing the total since the project started to an amazing 42. It has been a delight to see them blossoming in front gardens along our streets, thanks to proceeds from a table top sale and more residents and landlords, including Posh Pads and Holmhurst Care Home, adopting a tree.
OARA was able to spread a bit more horticultural colour and community goodwill on Sunday 26th April, when residents came along to fill their baskets and pots with red and white plants to celebrate St George’s Day (three days earlier). This was possible due to a successful OARA bid for a small grant, just £100, from a special Council St George’s Day fund. Plants were bought from two local nurseries, Mayfield and Copthorne, which support people with mental health issues, and there were experts on hand from the nurseries with their advice. Look out for a splash of red and white around the area (appropriately our own Saints colours too!)
